Wildflowers movie premiere in Ocean Springs

The issue of domestic violence plagues communities throughout the world.

But, one local author to the Mississippi Gulf Coast is shining a light on the issue to hopefully help those in need. Schledia Phillips-Anderson is the author of the book Wildflowers. Anderson recently made her book into a film that premieres June 18th at the Mary C. O’Keefe cultural arts center in Ocean Springs. It’s a one night event and things kick off at 7:30pm.  If you arrive at 6:30 you can meet the cast and crew. Anderson says this is a story that everyone needs to hear.

“I wanted to tell the story of a women who is of very strong faith and at the same time she found herself in a relationship that was very unhealthy and when she went to seek counseling she was told it was her duty to stay and pray. I just want women to know we have a lot of women who go through that. I wanted to give women a message that that’s not what god intended for you”

Actress Mackenzie Brown says, “It’s been a long road getting everything filmed and acting and everything so actually seeing it come together and premiere is really fun.”
