“Wildflower” movie premiere tonight at Mary C. O’Keefe Center
Tonight, a local film will be shown for the first time in Ocean Springs. It is a faith-based filmed that centers on a hard subject: domestic violence.
Local author Scheldia Anderson devoted her writing skills to raise awareness and send a message to clergy that confidential reports of domestic violence should always be considered a serious threat to the victim.
Anderson’s novel “Wildflowers” makes the message plain and now the book has been made into this movie. Anderson says it took three years for the film to be completed.
The premiere will be tonight at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center in Ocean Springs. Cast and crew will be having a meet and greet at 6:30 before the movie starts at 7:30. “I had already been through an abusive relationship and so it really resonated with me and I am a very strong believer and I just felt like it was something that needed to be addressed. Women need to know that they aren’t bound like some think they are.”
Tickets for tonight’s show can be purchased at ticketleap.com or at the door before the premiere.
