Wiggins Police Breakfast

Police departments are always looking for ways to better connect with the community.
This morning, the chief of police in Wiggins turned a business breakfast meeting into an opportunity for the public to meet some of his officers and hear what the department is doing.
Police Chief Matt Barnett says new technology like body cameras and digital radios help his small force police their growing city. He says it helps crack down on crime, but he also points out that good policing isn’t just about putting criminals in jail: “we’re here to help the community; I consider law enforcement the last office of social resort. We’re here at two in the morning when no one else is here and they need somebody.”
The police station in Wiggins is currently under massive renovations and Chief Barnett says that while morale is high, things will be even better once they move into their new home.
