West Wortham Mardi Gras 2018

West Wortham Elementary and Middle School didn’t feel like waiting for the weekend to take part in the Mardi Gras parades.
The students, faculty, teams, and clubs of the school came together this morning for their annual Mardi Gras Bash. Lizana Fire Department and the Harrison Central High School football and dance teams also joined in on the fun and a local krewe even donated a float for the parade.
Students with perfect scores were able to ride along, throwing beads to their classmates as a reward. Assistant teacher, softball, and basketball coach Wanda Farmer said, “We wanted to make sure that we recognize our perfect score kids and just working hard and we had some athletes on that float, too. They are working hard, not just on the court, but mainly on the inside of the school. We do it for the kids. The kids work hard year round and we just give them something where they can actually have fun and just breathe and relax.”
The guests of honor for the parade were West Wortham’s Teacher of the Year Chrystal Anderson and Harrison County Student Services Director Dr. Larette Marks.
