West Nile Virus Kills One in Attala County

Mississippi has recorded its first death from the West Nile Virus in 2015.
The state Department of Health says an Attala County resident has died from the virus. Four new human cases have also been reported, bringing the total for 2015 to 18 cases.
So far this year, cases have been reported in Adams, Attala, Covington, Forrest, Hinds, Madison, Montgomery, Rankin, and Simpson counties.
In 2014, Mississippi reported 43 cases of the virus, with seven deaths.
Health officials say symptoms may include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, rash, muscle weakness, or swollen lymph nodes.
