This afternoon at West Harrison, softball standout Jada McCalebb making it official with Miles College out of Birmingham, Alabama.
The idea of a surprise reveal, courtesy of her dad, and she deserves to be the star of the show after battling back from not only a torn MCL, but also a broken arm.
In the 27 games she did play last year, McCalebb was scorching hot at the plate with a .400 batting average to go along with 11 runs, 23 RBI, six doubles, and the team’s only home run. “Everybody has been asking me where I’m going, so when I stood up, everybody is like, where am I going? It’s just amazing coming back from a knee injury like I said, I wasn’t expecting to sign to a four-year college. I learned that you can’t give up. Coach Rogers told me my first game back at PRC, she was like, you can’t give up. I’m going to take you slow, and Coach Rogers has been there through the whole way. She pushed me slow. I just started back slotting in the playoffs last year. It’s a blessing honestly. I’ve been playing since I was four years old. ”
McCalebb says she picked Miles College over Hinds, Meridian, Florida A&M, and Xavier in Louisiana.
