Weekend Fires In Harrison County

Fire fighters in Harrison County were busy over the weekend battling multiple fires.
A house fire on Robinwood Drive brought responders from Harrison County and Lizana fire departments as well as the CRTC.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Elsewhere three different woods and brush fires burned around fifteen acres in North, Central and Western Harrison County.
Lizana, Saucier, and West Harrison fire departments worked with Mississippi Forestry Firefighters to successfully contain those blazes.

“You know in the county we are blessed to have excellent volunteers.. We couldn’t do the type of work we do in the county without the volunteers.. We had several fires this weekend, our regular fire fighters are on top of it, but we have to have the help from volunteers and other agencies that are willing to come in.”

A prescribed burn in the Desoto National Forrest area was scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but has been postponed due to prime weather conditions for a wildfire.
