Weather Threat Forces Change to Events at 2016 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Presented by C Spire

Biloxi, Miss. –Due to the threat of severe inclement weather, the course will be closed to the public on Thursday, it was announced by officials for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Fallen Oak will only be open to volunteers and participants of the C Spire Pro-Am. The morning tee times have been moved back three hours to start at 10:00 a.m. while the afternoon tee times remain the same. In addition, all groups will only play nine holes.
“We regret that Fallen Oak will not be open to the public for the C Spire Pro-Am Thursday,” said tournament director Steve Nieman. “The safety of our spectators is our highest priority, and based upon much discussion and input from the Tour’s on-site meteorologist, we feel that the forecasts for Thursday warrant us erring on the side of caution. We look forward to opening the course on Friday with the first round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Presented by C Spire.”
The 2016 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Presented by C Spire boasts one of the strongest fields ever. 2015 champion David Frost will defend his title against some of the best players in the world, including former champions Jeff Maggert and Michael Allen, and World Golf Hall of Fame members Tom Kite, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie and Larry Nelson. The field, which features 26 of the Top 30 on the current Charles Schwab Cup Money List.
The Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Presented by C Spire will take place March 31 – April 3 at Fallen Oak in Biloxi. Tickets are $15 and on sale now. They can be purchased online at or by calling the tournament office at (228) 896-6365. Children 16 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.
