Water barrier at Garden Park Medical Center

If you’ve passed by Garden Park Medical Center recently you may have noticed a little bit of construction.
The facility is in the process of installing a water barrier around the perimeter of the building. Due to low elevation in the area, heavy rain results in severe water damage inside the hospital and vehicles in the parking lot.
The goal of the new water barrier is to move the water around the property instead of through it. Garden Park Medical Center CEO Randy Rogers said, “Katrina alone did 17 million of damage to the hospital. A small storm can do million or two million to the hospital. This is a six million project. It sounds like a lot, but in the grand scheme, protecting us for the future. It’s absolutely worth the cost.”
The center plans to landscape over the barrier to make it more visually appealing. The project should be complete by mid-February of 2018.
