Waste Pro rate increase in Ocean Springs

Ocean Springs residents who use Waste Pro for their recycling and trash needs can expect a rate increase soon.

The $6 increase comes after the city’s decision to continue their garbage service contract with Waste Pro for the city instead of swapping to a different company. This decision was made at Tuesday night’s board of alderman meeting.

Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson tells News 25 they negotiated with multiple companies and this was what they felt was best. “It’s unfortunate and I can promise you that myself and my committee that we formed to negotiate, we tried as hard as we could. The companies all came with their best deal that they could possibly do. It’s just the reality of the cost of doing business. Unfortunately, it had to go up.”

Dobson says residents who use Waste Pro should expect this increase most likely next month.
