Wanted fugitive Jessie Hughes captured in Stone County
After a three day manhunt, a fugitive wanted out of Georgia and Stone County is behind bars in South Mississippi.
According to Stone County Criminal Investigator Ray Boggs, Jessie Hughes was captured and taken into custody around 1 this afternoon.
Boggs says after scouring Stone County, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Task Force, Harrison County K9 units, and Stone County deputies went back to an area they searched the day before and found Hughes in the woods in a makeshift tent.
Hughes originally escaped deputies on March 4th when a warrant was issued for his arrest out of Georgia for parole violation. He now faces several charges in Stone County, including assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, felon in possession of a firearm, burglary, and grand larceny.
He will also be extradited to Georgia where he will face his original drug charges.
