Walker Seeks Different Sentence

A death row inmate is asking for new sentencing 24 years after being convicted of killing a Long Beach woman.
Fifty-year-old Alan Dale Walker appeared in Harrison County Court today. He is asking for a psych evaluation and re-sentencing, alleging he had ineffective counsel during his 1991 capital murder trial.
Walker was convicted on kidnapping, rape and murder charges in the death of Konya Edwards after she had been raped and drowned in Crystal Lake in Harrison County back in 1990.
The hearing has wrapped up for today. More witness testimony in the matter will be heard at a later date.
Another man, Jason Riser, was convicted on a murder charge and sentenced to life in prison. Riser was released on parole back in 2008.
