Voter turnout in Harrison County

With the Harrison County School District bond issue on the ballot, voters in Harrison County had a huge turnout.

There was a steady flow throughout all precincts. Unofficially, around 42 percent came out to vote which is pretty good for a mid-term election according to Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner.

The variety of important races to vote on explains the turnout. This type of interest in Harrison County means a lot for future elections. “I hope that people will look at this election and have the same interest in the elections going forward. We are getting ready for next year’s election which will be huge from the state level all the way down to the local. I really feel like the interest and turnout will be great next year as well,” said Ladner.

There will be at least two runoffs from the mid-term elections. One for the special election for Senate and the other will be for the county court judge place 3.
