Voter registration deadlines approaching

Election season is here and that means the deadline for voter registration is too.

The deadline to register for the upcoming primary election is July 8th and July 29th for the runoff primary election. To register visit your county circuit clerk’s office in person and fill out an application.

You can also register by mail as long as the application is postmarked no later than July 8th for primary and July 29th for runoffs.

Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner says even if you’re registered it is important to pay attention to these deadlines. “If you have moved since the last time that you voted, it’s very important to change your registration. This is a legislative election, a supervisor election. It is a district information election, not just a county wide or statewide election. You don’t want to be registered to vote for instance in district three and you should be voting in district five on the officials in district five. It’s very important to change your registration so that you can vote on the officials that represent you.”

In 2018, Harrison County implemented the ‘reach a voter’ tool you text ‘vote 2018’ to 70,000 to receive important voting information like deadlines, sample ballot dates that will be open.
