Volunteers work to restore D’anella Park
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- It’s more than just a baseball field; It’s a place where generations of players have made memories.
Now, volunteers with the Biloxi Bombers Foundation are working to give D’anella park new life. From laying fresh sod, to cleaning up the grounds and tackling maintenance projects. Community members are rolling up their sleeves to restore the historic ballpark.
10u Biloxi Bomber coach TJ Fraser said, “This park has a deep meaningful Biloxi root for everybody and it’s where a lot of games were played and a lot of kids are looking forward to playing on it. We have a big Biloxi Bombers team, just to give the kids a place to play, progress, get better, get them on TV screens. Also for people in the community, a father wants to come work with his kids they can.”
The effort is part of a larger mission to preserve the field’s legacy and make sure future generations have a place to play. Organizers hope to have the field ready for baseball practices by spring 2027.
“If anybody wants to help fix up this field, you can go to the Facebook pages Biloxi Bomber Foundation and they can go on there and we post when we are going to have work days and work weekends, they are welcome to come on out and lend a hand even if it’s only for an hour,” said Fraser.
While there’s still work to be done, volunteers say the goal is to make sure D’anella park remains a part of the Biloxi community for years to come.
