Victim identified in Harrison County fatal accident

One person is dead following a single vehicle accident in Harrison County this morning.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the victim as  85-year-old Prather Necaise of Saucier.

Necaise was traveling down Highway 53 when his vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 53 near Lizana School Road.

Necaise was pronounced dead on the scene. No one else was in the car.

Mississippi Highway Patrol, Harrison County Fire Services, and the CRTC all responded to the scene.

News 25 spoke with the witness, Dianna Patton, who called 911. She says she heard the crash and then saw a Coast Electric employee, who was working on a power line across the street, run towards the back of her workplace.

Patton then walked outside and that’s when she saw the victim’s car in the tree. “When I saw it, it was heartbreaking. That’s the only way you can describe it because everyone goes to work and you don’t want to see that, just like people going throughout their day and all of the sudden, tragedy happens quite suddenly. It certainly wasn’t something that anyone was planning on seeing this morning, very scary and very sad for the family of that gentleman.”

Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating this accident. The cause of death is still pending an autopsy.
