Veterans Day breakfast at D’Iberville High School

The Junior ROTC and the community service class at D’Iberville High School hosted a Veterans Day breakfast this morning.
It was all smiles, hugs, and handshakes as the dozens of veterans mingled with students. The morning was nothing short of a patriotic celebration with the posting of the colors, a service roll call, and students even created a special POW MIA table.
The guest speaker at the event was Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson, who enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1989. Battalion Commander for the Warrior Battalion Otha Townsend said, “They have been through a lot and they served their country and they protected us and they are the reason we are here today and they are the reason we are able to put on this Veterans Day breakfast. So, we just want to give them a little appreciation and show them hey, we do appreciate that you served our country. You pretty much gave your life for us.”
Townsend tells News 25 they prepared for over two hundred veterans to attend.
