Vet Center Mobile Outreach Program
For veterans, readjusting to civilian life is no easy feat, but the Veterans Center has made it their mission to make that transition as smooth as possible.
Today, one of 70 nationwide mobile vet centers set up shop outside of the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Highway 49 in Gulfport for their outreach campaign. The campaign offers free readjustment counseling services to interested vets, active duty and their families. The center also offers bereavement counseling, military sexual trauma counseling, community education and more.
Biloxi Vet Center Outreach Specialist Henry McNeal said, “A lot of times, veterans don’t realize that they have certain problems and then some do, but it’s important that we are there to help them to know that there is such a service available for them and let them know they’re not alone, they’re not forgotten when they come back to a normal lifestyle.”
The mobile vet center will be back at it again tomorrow from 10 to 2 at the neighborhood Wal-Mart on Pass Road in Gulfport, then again at the same time on Thursday at the Wal-Mart in D’Iberville.
