USM Pitcher Hunter Stanley ties C-USA Tournament record

Southern Miss Pitcher Hunter Stanley threw the first pitch of Southern Miss baseball’s first game in the C-USA Tournament this morning at 12:15 a.m. and he threw a lot more before it was all said and done.

In a post-season performance for the ages, USM’s Friday night starter tied a C-USA Tournament record with 14 strikeouts.

All part of an eight-inning complete game against Western Kentucky in which the senior allowed just three hits, a walk, and one run.

Stanley was actually perfect through five-and-a-third innings en route to his third double digit strikeout game of the season.

The Golden Eagles walked it off in the bottom of the eighth with an 11-1 win courtesy of a Christopher Sargent 10-run rule grand slam.
