USM offering COVID-19 vaccination incentives for students

Today, the University of Southern Mississippi announced a new incentive program put in place to encourage students to get the COVID-19 vaccination.

Through the program, students that are fully vaccinated will be eligible for incentives that will be offered weekly starting July 30th through October 15th.

To become eligible, students must be enrolled in USM classes for the fall 2021 semester and they must submit their official COVID-19 vaccination record online at

Five names will be drawn each week with each name winning one of the five different incentives. USM Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Dee Dee Anderson said, “So, the reason that we are doing this is because we are trying to encourage our students to get vaccinated. We feel that being vaccinated is the road for us to a safe fall and a fall where we can stay in class, we can continue to go to football games. We can continue to go to activities and our students can continue to be safe.”

The incentives for the program include fall 2021 semester tuition, dining dollars, Barnes and Noble bookstore book vouchers, housing and residence life room credit and parking decals.
