USM, Integer receive more funding for AI software development
A Mississippi partnership is receiving another major investment to help advance the future of Navy undersea technology.
Integer Technologies and the University of Southern Mississippi have been awarded a $9.8 million contract modification from the Office of Naval Research to continue developing artificial intelligence software for autonomous undersea missions.
The funding brings the total value of the joint research program to nearly $25 million.
The project is designed to help unmanned underwater vessels better adapt to changing ocean conditions, operate longer with less human intervention, and support the Navy’s seabed warfare capabilities.
