USM football looking for three in a row

After a 35 point victory against UAB last Saturday, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles have no plans of slowing down despite gaining bowl eligibility.

The Golden Eagles currently sit 4-1 in the Conference USA standings, including a two game win streak. USM will put that streak on the line this Saturday when they head out west to face the University of Texas San Antonio, who sit behind them at 3-2 in conference play.

A key factor in the Golden Eagles conference success has been their defense, which has given up a combined six points in their last two games.

Following last week’s victory, USM Head Coach Jay Hopson explains that he expects the defense’s high level of play to continue through the end of the season. “I feel like you’re going to see this defense play really well over the next month. They’re really clued in and like I said, we gotta have that to continue and we have three really tough opponents left and next week is no exception.”
