USM associate head baseball coach named Texas A&M hitting coach

One of the few remaining pieces from the 2009 Southern Miss College World Series team is moving on to the best league in all of collegiate baseball.

First reported by D-1 Baseball and confirmed by News 25, Chad Caillet is on the move to Texas A&M as the program’s next hitting coach.

Caillet wore many hats during his 12 years in Hattiesburg, having served as the associate head coach dating back to 2016 and the recruiting coordinator since 2009.

He produced USM’s first ever nationally ranked signing class in 2009 and was named Conference USA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017.

Prior to the 2018 season, Caillet was tabbed as one of the top 20 assistant coaches in the country according to Baseball America.

In 2019, the Golden Eagles went 40-21 en route to their fourth straight regional appearance with Caillet second in command to Head Coach Scott Berry.
