Update on Missing Teen

The U.S. Coast Guard has told News 25 they will be suspending the search for 16 year old Omar Gonzalez.
Gonzalez has been missing since Sunday evening. Today, the Coast Guard worked together with several law enforcement agencies to search for Gonzalez. Altogether, there were 10 boats, 1 Coast Guard helicopter and even two Blackhawks from Camp Shelby. This late in the search the Coast Guard said they are searching to provide closure for the family.
Senior Chief Rebecca Polzin of the U.S. Coast Guard said, “Anytime we have a search like this, it is all hands on deck. We did have a crew that was recalled to come in early on Monday morning, that’s not typical for a search. But any time we have someone that we’re looking for, we will always put all hand on deck and we will make 100% effort to try and find something for the family.”
The Coast Guard wants to make sure boaters know they are still searching for Gonzalez. If you see anything, please contact the Coast Guard.
