Update on COVID-19 vaccine in Mississippi

There are over 1,300 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in hospitals and the Mississippi State Department of Health hopes that the vaccine will lower that number.

Mississippi is currently still in phase one of vaccinations. 120,000 doses have been sent out and 17,000 have been administered to healthcare workers, residents, and staff at long term care health facilities. State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers said, “We are announcing now that starting next week we will have vaccination clinics at 18 sites throughout Mississippi targeting specifically any and all healthcare personnel.”

MSDH wants to make sure to get all those who are in healthcare settings vaccinated before opening the vaccine to the public.
