Update on Biloxi Lighthouse Pier upgrade
Big strides are being made in a project to improve one of the most popular spots on Biloxi Beach.
Work is currently underway on the city’s $68,000 project aimed at dressing up the area south of Lighthouse Pier. The steel guard rail at the entrance of the pier has now been removed and workers were out doing the groundwork for the parking lot to get paved this morning.
One big change when the project is finished is the parking lot will have two entrances and exits instead of three. Cecilia Dobbs Walton with City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “One reason why they’re going to do this is for more parking spaces and a parking space for the Biloxi Tour Train to park. It’s just something that will make the area that is used by a lot of locals and visitors, it will make it more appealing and more access to the beach.”
The public parking lot is now closed to vehicles and will remain sectioned off for the next several weeks.
