Unemployment Rate Lowest in 12 Years
The Mississippi Department of Employment Security reports the lowest level of unemployment for Mississippi in 12 years.
The report claims the unemployment rate fell to 5.7 last month, the lowest level since February 2004. The number of unemployed Mississippians also dropped in November by 1,600 people. The November 2016 figure is 11,900 people lower than it was in November 2015.
The report also says Harrison County is one of the 27 counties in the state that had unemployment rates less to or equal to the state’s rate. Harrison County came in at 5.1 percent last month.
