Understanding the Dangers of Hepatitis B

Mercy Housing and Human Development is offering the community information that could save lives.

The organization conducted a survey with the Mississippi Department of Health that shows one out of every four Asian Americans had hepatitis B. The group held a forum today to teach folks the importance of early detection, knowing how the disease is spread, and how to properly use treatments.

Forum educator Xuan Phan says this information is vital to the area. “A lot of different cancers have been decreased versus liver cancer, it’s still sky rocketing. We want to make sure that people understand that hepatitis B is one of the leading cause of liver disease, protect yourself, protect your family, get tested.”

The next event will be a free tax prep on January 28th. If you interested in attending you must make an appointment.
