Unattended Veterans Service in Biloxi
Today the Biloxi National Cemetery was the site for the first of their monthly direct services. A direct service is a special ceremony that is open to the public and will be held to honor deceased veterans that have no family or friends to attend their funeral service.
The cemetery will continue to host these ceremonies on the final Thursday of each month to honor those veterans that didn’t have a chance at a proper service when they were laid to rest at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Cemetery Director Celethia Reed said, “What’s a nation that doesn’t honor those who gave their life for that nation. Everyone deserves to have their name spoken, everyone deserves to have this honor and our veterans deserve to be honored in life and death.”
The Biloxi National Cemetery is the final resting place of over 23,000 veterans and their family members.
