U.S. Air Force fighter jet crashes into North Sea, search underway for pilot
UNITED KINGDOM (WXXV) — A U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle crashed into the North Sea on Monday morning and a search for the pilot is now underway.
The aircraft was from the 48th Fighter Wing, located at Royal Air Force Lakenheath in the United Kingdom. The accident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. local time.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was on a routine training mission with one pilot on board.
The cause of the crash and the status of the pilot are unknown at this time, and U.K. Search and Rescue have been called to support.
