Two Suspects in Ocean Springs Burglary Have Been Arrested

Surveillance video helped police catch two suspects in a recent home burglary in Ocean Springs.
News 25’s Laurene Callander has the details.
Gulfport residents Protranna Jones and Casey Williams have been arrested and charged with one count of residential burglary. Police say surveillance video showed the suspects stealing electronics and expensive jewelry from a home in Ocean Springs on July 6th. A third suspect is believed to be involved as well.
Captain William Jackson of the Ocean Springs Police Department said, “ Right now, they’re not being very cooperative, we’re trying to find the third suspect and we’re not releasing a name, we’re not 100 % sure we have the exact name of the person we’re looking for.”
Officials say that even though the alleged robbers came through the back door that was locked, they still managed to force their way in, which has neighbors in the area concerned. James Castingss, an Ocean Springs resident, said, “I’m kind of skittish of it, they’re already going through people’s homes and different things and breaking into cars. I’m kind of wondering about it.”
Officials say Ocean Springs has the lowest burglary rate on the Gulf Coast, with about 10 to 20 home invasions a year.
Police are still trying to recover the stolen property in Monday’s burglary and though the suspects are in custody, residents are still on edge. “I’m still uneasy ‘cause you know I check my house every night, twice before I go to bed, check on the doors to see they’re all locked and everything,” said Castings.
