Two children injured on fair ride in Laurel

Two children were injured Friday from a ride at the South Mississippi State Fair in Laurel.
A fair representative said a seven-year-old girl fell out of a ride called “Up, Up, and Away” when the seat became loose. The girl was knocked unconscious and was taken to the hospital. A fair worker said it was a minor accident.
The mother of the injured girl said her five-year-old son also suffered a minor head wound on the same ride. The girl has been released from the hospital, but will return for further treatments.
The ride will remained closed for the duration of the fair.
