Tunnels to Towers 5K Run and Stair Climb
One of many ways Americans remember the events of 9/11 is by participating in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Climb.
Every year communities across the nation partner with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the first responders that sacrificed their lives to save others on September 11th, 2001.
This Saturday, many will participate in a 5K run followed by a 110-story stair climb at Margaritaville in Biloxi to commemorate those who ascended 110 floors 20 years ago to save those in the Twin Towers.
Margaritaville Chief Marketing Operator Tessy Lambert said, “Seeing all of our community come together and the firefighters and all the first responders run in their full gear, it really hits home.”
Tunnel to Towers Co-Director Bridgett Lopez said, “Even though it’s 20 years later we make an effort to never forget the sacrifices that people made that day, as well as the sacrifices that our military and first responders have made since that day on September 11th, 2001. We love for the community to come out. It’s a super family-friendly event. We ask people to come out in patriotic clothing, carry flags, etc., just to honor our military and first responders and just to show that you’re proud to be an American.”
Registration is still open to sign up for this Saturday’s climb. To register visit T2T.org and click on Biloxi. All proceeds go towards the foundation’s programs including Building for America’s Bravest.
