Tulane Ms. Coast Opens New Campus

Students attending Tulane at the Mississippi Coast campus in Biloxi are living life a little nicer these days. This week, students were welcomed to their new $2.5 million campus across from its old site at the Edgewater Mall.
The school’s dean says the new campus is equipped with some of the latest technology. New video cameras and special microphones allow students to video chat and attend classes with teachers and students from Tulane campuses across the country.
The new campus also has a lounge for students who want to study or kick back and take a break between classes.
Dr. Karen Lucas, associate dean of Tulane Mississippi Gulf Coast Campus, said, “We started 120 days ago. It took 110 days to completely gut the building and then to renovate it to our designs. We designed everything to be at the benefit of the student, to make it convenient, safe and comfortable for them. It was an exciting process.”
Dr. Lucas says the new campus is a LEED approved building, which means every part of the campus was made to have the smallest environmental impact and be as environmentally safe as possible.
