Tryouts for Gulf Coast Monarchy took place Saturday

Saturday, women got the chance to get out on the football field for the Gulf Coast Monarchy women’s football team’s open tryouts at the Kroc Center in Biloxi.

The team is ahead of their second season participating in the Women’s Football Alliance. Head Coach Robert Williams say it is a great opportunity for women who are interested in playing football, but have never had the chance.

The team kicked off last year, but their schedule was impacted by COVID-19. Now Coach Williams says he’s excited about a new season and all the talent who came out. “We have a lot of speed. A lot of these women played softball, they played basketball, they played flag football so we don’t have women that are just out here saying that they are girls who play football, we actually have a lot of athletes out here.”

Another open try out is scheduled for November 7th.
