Tropical Storm Nate warnings and watches
Tropical Storm Nate has already battered parts of Central America, killing at least 22 people.
The National Hurricane Center said Friday morning that Nate is moving north-northwest with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour. There are hurricane, storm surge, and tropical storm watches for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu declared a state of emergency Thursday. There are concerns about the city’s drainage systems after flooding due to the failure of several drainage pumps during heavy storms in August.
With Florida still reeling from Hurricane Irma, Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency for 29 counties.
