Triumph Church in Gulfport hands out food to community members

As the coronavirus crisis enters another week, churches here on the Coast continue to find ways to bring food to those in need.

Members of Triumph Church in Gulfport were out early Saturday morning handing out food to people in a drive-thru manner.

In all, around 250 bags of food were handed out over the course of an hour and a half. Pastor Tyrone Lewis and his wife Chiquita say it is the church’s responsibility to help out in a time of need. “It’s best when we have something like this. They stay in the car and we hand them these bags. They have meat in it, it has peanut butter, it has cereal. It has fruits and vegetable and canned goods. So, these are things that they are able to use in their homes for their families and their children and it’s truly a blessing for them.”

This was the second food drive hosted by Triumph Church. They partnered with Feeding the Gulf Coast and received a grant from Mississippi Power to make it happen.
