Trial continues as former Biloxi official faces sex charges
The child molestation trial of former Biloxi City Official Cliff Kirkland continues today.
Our media partner the Sun Herald was in the courtroom for opening statements yesterday.
Assistant District Attorney George Huffman said Kirkland groomed three young girls by buying them things, taking them out to eat, and more. “The facts of this case, while disturbing, are very straightforward and very clear,” he said.
Defense Attorney Keith Pisarich countered, saying the allegations are ‘simply not true.’
Pisarich said Kirkland grew up in Biloxi, worked in the media, in gaming, and eventually for the city. He said Kirkland has never molested anyone and family and friends would vouch for him.
After opening statements, Judge Larry Bourgeois closed the courtroom while the alleged victims testified.
