Tree of Remembrance Celebration

The holiday season is a time for camaraderie and family, but for some they don’t have that luxury.

For the past 30 years the Riemann Family Funeral Home has held their ‘Tree of Remembrance Celebration.’

Guests were invited for a small ceremony followed by an ornament hanging. Dozens were on hand to hang an ornament in honor of a loved one and some even shared a story or two.

Laurie Estes with Riemann Family Funeral Homes tells News 25 she believes it is their job to provide people with an avenue for remembrance. “I talk to them about it and a lot of times they’ll say ‘I don’t feel right about coming back to the funeral home,’ but it’s more of a, it helps them get through and it’s just our way of saying thank you.”

If you’d like to participate in a ‘Tree of Remembrance Ceremony’ you still have options. The Gulfport location will be holding one Tuesday night at 6 and Ocean Springs and Kiln will be holding ceremonies on Thursday night at 6.
