Travel Tips: Leave Your Gun At Home

Members of TSA want your travel experience to be a smooth one and encourage you to leave your gun at home.

Officials spoke at Gulfport Biloxi International Airport this morning informing the public of what not to bring in your carryon bags.
About one thousand pounds of these items were collected over the past eight months in Gulfport.
A total of 27 guns were stopped by TSA officers in Mississippi last year seven at the Gulfport-Biloxi international airport.
This not only causes lines in the airport to stall but could cause a scare as well.
TSA officials say the best thing to do is leave your gun and other possible weapons at home.

“It can be a dangerous situation a lot of people bring a loaded weapon to the checkpoint and you see how some people fling their bags onto the x-ray belt..there could be a discharge and there could be tragic results.”
– Sari Koshetz Spokesman, TSA

Hundreds of pounds of voluntarily abandoned property and hazardous materials are stopped by TSA officers in Gulfport every year.
These items have included stun guns, grenades, brass knuckles and martial arts tools.
