Traffic stop leads to pot bust

The Gulfport Police Department has seized over 100 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on the interstate.
Gulfport police learned the drugs were destined to Gulfport to be sold during this weekend’s Spring Break event. In total, 109 pounds of marijuana were seized. Thirty-five year-old Keandre Marks of Gulfport was arrested. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said, “It is so important we monitor what is going on on that interstate. There is a lot of drugs that move up and down our highways. A lot of people say that doesn’t impact us locally, it does! A hundred pounds of marijuana was coming to our Gulf Coast during this event and that’s where we got it.”
The seizure was the result of a traffic stop initiated by Gulfport Police Department  eastbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 33.
