Towanda Metadyne Creates Job Opportunities

A high-tech manufacturer expands its business to the Gulfport area, creating new job opportunities for Gulf Coast residents.
Towanda Metadyne Incorporated, originally located in Pennsylvania, first contacted the Harrison County Development Commission about the expansion in the summer time. Since then, the two have been in constant communication about starting up business at a vacant facility located off of Seaway Road.
The new division, Metadyne Gulfport, is expected to begin operations by mid-November. This project will create 20 new job opportunities in the Gulfport area. Harrison County Development Commission Executive Director Bill Hessell said, “I think the best thing about it that I can say is it shows that the workforce here in Harrison County, our skillsets here in Harrison County, can meet the demand of many different companies and this is just one example.”
The Mississippi Development Authority and the Harrison County Board of Supervisors also played a part in bringing the company to the Coast.
