Tourism Plans for the Coast

If you build it, they will come and hopefully stay longer. That’s the push Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast plans to start this year after having their budget approved by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors.
Visit Mississippi Gulf Coast Director Renee Areng was on hand to present the group’s budget today. She tells News 25 current development across the Coast is booming but their new goal is to get tourists to stay just a little bit longer. Areng believes new attractions coming to the Coast will do just that. “The addition of MGM stadium, the new hotel rooms that have come on board from Island View and some other developments, the Scarlett Pearl coming up, expansion of the water park. And then the most fun, I think, is the development of the water park resort there on the beach. Numerous new restaurants. Development is incredible across the Coast and you see construction everywhere.”
Work on the new water park resort is well underway.
