Tiger shark takes a bite out of paddle board

A close call for a paddle boarder in Hawaii who says a tiger shark took a bite out of his board and chased after him and a friend as they tried to swim away to safety.

Hawaii’s Department of Land and Natural Resources released these pictures. They show the teeth marks of a 10 to 12 foot long tiger shark which reportedly aggressively pursued two swimmers off the coast of Maui.

According to authorities, the man was paddle boarding with a group when the shark swam up and bit into his inflatable stand-up board.

He quickly jumped into the water and swam to another paddler.

Both say the shark began swimming after them as they tried to paddle to shore.

Neither was hurt during the ordeal.
