Three dead, four injured in New Year’s Eve shooting in Gulfport

Three people are dead and another four were wounded in a New Year’s Eve gathering that erupted in gunfire.

Lt. Clayton Fulks said in a press release that Gulfport Police received a report of multiple shots being fired in the 1200 block of Lewis Avenue just before midnight.

Multiple units responded including detectives and the Crime Scene Unit.

According to Fulks, a large crowd had gathered in the 1200 block of Lewis Avenue for a New Years Eve party.

During the party a physical altercation erupted. The physical altercation escalated to shots being fired by multiple individuals.

Officers located six adult males and one adult female who were suffering from gunshot wounds. Three males succumbed to their injuries. One is listed as in critical condition. Two males and one female sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the deceased as: Corey Dubose, 23, of D’Iberville; Sedrick McCord, 28, of Gulfport; and Aubrey Lewis, 22, of Bay St. Louis.
