Third Grade Reading Test Results

Results show 92 percent of Mississippi students passed the third grade reading gate test. The passing rate statewide for the test was 85 percent.
Seven school districts along the Gulf Coast surpassed that average, earning at least a 95 percent pass rate.
Gulfport schools showed the most improvement along the Coast, moving from a 90 percent pass rate to nearly 95 percent. Assistant Principal for Central Elementary School David Allen said, “We did a lot of remediation in the classroom. We did a lot of remediation after school. Lead teachers, classroom teachers, administrators, we all worked hard to tutor our kids as much as we needed to.”
The passing rate includes the results of the first test back in April, the first retest from May, and the final retest over the summer.
