The Pillars of Biloxi gives residents a taste of the Mardi Gras spirit

The Pillars of Biloxi hopped into the Mardi Gras spirit tonight by throwing their second annual Mardi Gras Ball.

The night began with the presentation of the court made up entirely of residents at the senior care facility.

The crew was made up of three dukes, three maids, and a king and a queen. Special guests were invited to the event as well as the king and queen of the Krewe of Gemini and the Isiah Frederick Center line dancers to teach the seniors some new moves.

The event was held for the first time two years ago, but was canceled last year due to COVID.

The seniors were excited to be able to put on their dancing shoes again and have a fun time celebrating the carnival season. Pillars Community Relations Director Courtney Williams said, “To them it’s everything and to the employees of the Pillars, it means a lot to be able to give them the quality of life they deserve. Just cause you’re old, not being able to do a lot of things, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.”

The king of the ball’s name is James Kelly and the queen is Kathy Thornton.
