The Humane Society of South Mississippi is having an adoption special

Tomorrow, a counselor from the Humane Society will be ready to help you pick out the right pet to take home during the shelter’s special adoption event.

The special running will include your new pet to get microchipped and tagged for only $15. The Humane Society will be waiving the adoption fee that usually runs around $50 to $100. The shelter is currently housing 374 animals, which is over their capacity limit.

The process for adoption usually takes at least 45 minutes to complete and you’ll need an ID and be at least 18-years-old.

The event will take place at the adoption center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adoption Counselor Cecillia Collins said, “So out motto here is for all of our employees or adoption counselors is set them up for success. Um, so obviously, we want to get those babies adopted, but we also want to make sure this is going to be a long term adoption. That these are going to be their forever families. So, we make sure not only they’re going to be a good fit with people, but if for some reason they were to get out, we can easily get them back home.”

If you are not able to adopt, you can always help out by donating. Head to their Facebook to see what items are needed the most.
