With their 45-10 win over Petal last week, they punched their ticket to the South State Championship for the first time in over 25 years. WXXV caught up with the Admirals as they prepared for their final game in Milner Stadium and a chance at school history.
A pair of offensive leaders confidently said their non-stop preparation all season long has earned them the write to practice during Thanksgiving week.
With a nine game winning streak and scoring 45 points in both playoff games this year, the Admirals not only play confident in themselves but confident in one another.
Lights out quarterback Parker Nettles doesn’t throw for 2,294 yards without his blockers and playmaker, and running back Cooper Crosby doesn’t accumulate over 2,000 total yards without his entire unit, especially the offensive lineman.
As for the unsung heroes who give the offense these opportunities, the competitors that are the Admiral defense.
This season, Gulfport has outscored their opponents 375 points to 186 points and how they do it is simple. The defense wreaks havoc.
All three phases of this Gulfport football team truly holds their own and then some, which has led to their first semi-final test since 1999.
Not only have they done something for the first time in 26 years, they now have the opportunity to make history in their final game at the Milner stadium.
