Ten-year-old in stable condition after near-drowning at water park in Wiggins

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- Emergency responders are crediting quick thinking lifeguards and coordinated rescue efforts after a ten-year-old girl was involved in a near-drowning incident at Flint Creek Water Park Sunday afternoon.

According to the Wiggins Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a CPR in progress call at the park.

When first responders arrived, they found the child awake, alert, and coughing up water.

Officials say she was stabilized on scene before being airlifted for further medical evaluation.

She is currently reported to be in stable condition.

The fire department says three on-duty lifeguards began lifesaving measures before emergency crews arrived, actions critical in the outcome of the incident.
